Program Overview
HISD-ACP Principal Academy is a two-year state approved certification program for individuals seeking principal certification.
HISD-ACP Principal Academy focuses on courses and personal development of the interns in a cohort model. The program curriculum consists of both HISD courses and University of St. Thomas coursework aligned to all Texas standards and competencies for the Principal TExES exam and emphasizes HISD initiatives as well as knowledge and skill sets identified in the Profile of an HISD leader.
Academy fellows will engage in facilitative leadership experiences, portfolio case studies, action research, observations, state exam preparation, and internship with mentor support.
Admission Requirements
- ACP Principal Academy one-page initial Application
- Principal Insight Online interview
- Application Portfolio ( for applicants who meet the required Index Score on Principal Insight)
- Resume
- 3.0 GPA overall, to include all official transcripts
- Master’s Degree or a minimum of 18 credit hours in a Master’s program
- Three letters of recommendation (including one from your principal or supervisor)
- A minimum of two years of successful teaching experience
- Evidence of leadership experience
