Training Outline
Orientation: an information meeting to explain the requirements of the program.
TExES Content Training: training to prepare interns for the TExES content – certification exam. Interns must pass this exam to be classified as “highly qualified” for the No Child Left Behind Act.
Integrated Field Experience: includes the lesson cycle, classroom management and classroom observations of an experienced teacher.. The interns will complete specific activities, including teaching lessons.
University of St. Thomas (UST) coursework: six to nine semester hours will be completed during the summer.
Curriculum Training: training for interns to begin learning the HISD CLEAR Curriculum, state mandated grade level objectives (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills – TEKS). The interns will also develop activities and lesson plans.
